2015 NAPCP Annual Conference Report

Vice-Chairman’s report

The 2015 Conference of the National Association for Persons with Cerebral Palsy was held in Krugersdorp from the 4th to the 6th May. It was jointly hosted by the West Rand APD and the West Rand School. The proceedings started off on Monday the 4th May with a guided tour of this excellent school which caters for learners with CP and other disabilities. This was followed by the Management committee meeting of the NAPCP, and then the business meeting which was open to all delegates.

Conference presentations took place at the Silver Star Casino conference centre on the 5th and 6th of May. The papers were well received by the participants. They included topics such as current therapy research, sexuality issues, employment and nutrition. The conference was well attended by teachers, therapists, social workers, NGOs and others working in the field of CP.

A highlight of the conference was the presentation of Honorary Life membership certificates to three stalwarts of the organisation: Prof Roelie Grabe, Dr BT Naidoo and Mr Johan Viljoen. They served the NAPCP with distinction for many years.

Our thanks go to Annelene Rossouw, Director of WRAPD and her team for their hard work and excellent organisation of the 2015 NAPCP conference.

Recipients of the Honorary Life Membership Awards, Mr Johan Viljoen, Dr BT Naidoo (and spouse Dr Reddy),
Prof Roelie Gräbe (and spouse Susan Gräbe).

Vice ChairmanProf Faith Bischof and Chairman Mrs Sandy Heyman,
